The brief:
The Yellow Car Shop, a vehicle leasing specialist wanting to rename and rebrand asked me to develop a logo to represent the new name whilst also retaining some key features from the original brand, in order to retain as much existing customer recognition as possible.
They also wanted their shiny new logo to be used in some bespoke graphics for a promotional limited addition VW Generation Six Caravelle, so asked me to create something special.
The solution:
Not wanting to align the business with any kind of marque or vehicle, I developed a generic icon, keeping to the previous ‘cartoon car’ style of illustration whilst creating something different enough from the original to represent the change within the business.
I then blended elements from the new logo with influences from 1960’s and modern surf-style design, to give a nod to the release of the first T1 panel van in 1964, ‘distressing’ the graphic to create that time served stereotypical surf wagon feel.
We wanted to brand up a company vehicle but, being a limited edition VW Caravelle, we wanted something a bit more funky and surf style rather than just our logo plonked on it. Bobbyflash has not disappointed. They have created a stunning graphic that is bang on what we wanted, whilst still representing our existing brand and including a call to action – it’s a real head turner!
